On Halloween this year I decided to go on a baking spree and make cookies for all of my friends. I made loaded candy peanut butter cookies, dark chocolate cookies stuffed with caramel, and these ones, chocolate and vanilla sprinkle Oreo cookies!
I was going to just use plain Oreos, but when I saw the limited edition Halloween ones I knew I had to use them! The taste the same as the normal Oreos, but the filling is orange. I can’t imagine how much artificial color went in to the creme, but they look so cool it’s totally worth it!
Ingredients:
3/4 cup granulated sugar
3/4 cup packed brown sugar
1 cup softened butter (2 sticks)
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 egg
2 1/4 cups all purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/8 cup cocoa powder
1 large pack Oreos
1 1/2 cups rainbow sprinkles
Steps:
1. Heat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
2. In a large bowl, combine sugars, butter, vanilla extract, and the egg. Mix on medium speed of an electric mixer until combined thoroughly.
3. Stir in flour, baking soda, and salt. I live at high altitude, and suggest cutting the amount of baking soda by half if you live at a high elevation.
4. Split dough evenly into two bowls, and add cocoa powder to one bowl.
5. Mix cocoa powder until well combined.
6. Cut as many Oreos as you would like into small chunks, and stir into both bowls.
7. Fill a small bowl with sprinkles.
8. Roll dough into balls, and place individually into the bowl of sprinkles. Mix dough until the outside is coated with sprinkles.
9. Line two baking sheets with parchment paper, and place dough onto the pan.
10. Bake for 8-10 minutes, or until slightly browned.
11. While the cookies bake, cut oreos into quarters, allowing for two to three Oreo quarters per cookie.
12. Remove from the oven and place on cooling rack. Immediately press two to three Oreo pieces into the top of the cookies.
13. Let cookies cool for 6-12 minutes, then enjoy!
